ADVISE NEEDED!

Have not posted for a while:

My History:
43ys old, no prior health problems, no medications
3rd Degree Heart Block
Pacemaker installed on 10/22/2013
shoulder/neck swelling and pain since the procedure
have been in PT and that has gotten a little better, still puffy
6/18/2014--rushed to the ER with a myocarditis--they dianosed this from a blood enzyme test and my tiponin levels were very high. Spent 3 days in the hospital and was put on Toprol and sent home--I have palpatations now and very light headed. They ran several blood tests to see what is causing this virus--ANY SUGGESTIONS? I go to the doctors this week to be evaluated and filled in on the blood tests results--so far I do not have lupus. Someone please help me. Should I travel out of my area for another opinion? I am located in Northeast,Pa. I can get to Philly in about 2 1/2 hours--Is this an option for me?

My Experience!!

Hi,Sorry to read about your discomfort. From my experience I would & have had to go for the best of diagnosis. I developed poor atrial sensing with my # 5 pacemaker as my site was infected from #4 previous pacemaker. So, the leads also were infected & both pacemaker & leads had to be removed. This was the cause of poor atrial sensing. I was followed up with 7 weeks of IV Vancomycin treatment as tests also showed infection growth in my heart walls.
I had personal help in that my step-daughter worked in a large hospital & got me the "most important" appointment in our State University Hospital with the top Cardio Surgeon, this was exactly a year ago. Fortunately I'm OK again & I'm having a check up appointment this coming Tuesday.
You have the right answer in doing the drive to Philly as I did the same with a 2 hr drive last year.
I might also mention my 2 local Cardiologists were most happy that I made my own choice as they admitted that I made the right choice. "Ya gotta me your own advocate"
