New member question

On December 10th, I got a 2 lead pacemaker. My heart is healthy, it just didn't pump right. I'm 55, healthy, female.

On the 11th, before checking out, I went for a walk down the hospital hallway. Within 10 minutes I got a horrible pain. I ended up in surgery the next day. The doctor decided not to do the surgery, but have me tested to see if I was allergic to metal, as I do have allergies.

The cardiologist the hospital had me go to, didn't listen. He has had me on two different pain prescriptions, end of story.

Thanks to my primary, he's made sure my allergy testing is being done.
He has also changed my cardiologist, who I will meet with next week. Thanks to this group, I know painful breathing shouldn't be happening (I knew it, but the assurance meant a lot)

Because of 'old' cardiologist, my concussion, and now the pain, my brain is blank

Would this group be wiling to give me advice on what to ask my new cardiologist. I do know he has the hospital records.

I starting at square one....
Thank you
BeckyJo

Ask for a copy of your interrogation report. It gives a lot of information so start there.

Good luck with the new Cardio.

Hi Grateful Heart!
Who did this report?
New cardio is tomorrow, Friday.
Thanks for your help. I'm sorry, due to concussion, I can't think of the saying, but it's something like, I'm so new I have no idea what to ask, to start being educated.

Becky Jo: When they check your pacemaker with the computer at the Cardio's office, it prints out a report of how much you are being paced, life left on battery, any events since last check.....or in your case since it was implanted. There is so much more info on it. Ask if you can have a copy of it too. They should give it to you with no problem but don't leave without it......IF they interrogate your device tomorrow. If not, ask for a copy of the last one, whenever that was.

Ask your questions at the Doc's office. If they are worth their salt, they will take the time to answer you. Let him know you are interested in learning about your condition and device. I think not many are, so if you let them know, my experience has been they are willing to explain things to you.

Then ask here for any further questions about it, many helpful members here. I'm surprised no one responded to you....sometimes you have to post again.....it slips by. I was sick this past week so haven't been on for a bit, but then I saw your post.

Good luck tomorrow, let us know how it goes.

New cardiologist

I went to the new cardiologist yesterday.
His nurse did an interrogate report, and then the doctor did one. It wiped me out, and the doctor was sensitive to how I was doing"

I was in so much pain, due to breathing, I couldn't think straight to ask questions - but my husband did.

I was so impressed, as the doctor took his time, answered all the questions.
The major concern was that the difficult breathing started as soon as the leads were put in, and has only gotten worse.
We know I'm not allergic to the
Metals, and there is no guarantee moving the leads will solve the problem - but, the leads have had time to allow scar tissue to build up, and per the surgeon, that was what should have happened.

What also impressed me, his surgery schedule was full for the week of Feb 3rd, so he has me scheduled for 7 in the morning on the 5th, prior to going to his office.

A couple of comments he made, made me feel that he has been in contact with my primary doctor - and is working with him.

I forgot to ask for a copy of my interrogate report, but I look forward to him explaining my next one to me, as I'm sure he will

Thanks again for your support and education.

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
