So Happy to Exercise

Background: I'm 27 yo and have SSS bradycardia and Tetralogy of Fallot. 6 weeks post-op since getting my pacemaker.

My EP suggested a change of brand from Medtronic to a dual sensing Boston Scientific. I didn't think this would make much difference but I exercised yesterday and I ran a 12 minute mile without gasping for air. I thought gasping while exercise was normal but apparently it's not. For the first time in 27 years I want to be active. This PM has made my life so much better and I'm excited that I'm not limited by how fast my heart beats or how little air gets through my system. Third PMs the charm :) (Also, this sub-pec placement is amazing. I can't see it and I'm all healed up now.)

Sounds like excellent news all around! I love my sub-pec placement, too, bury it out of the way. Welcome back to active.

Exercise and SSS

I know when I received my PM last month it was a drastic improvement!! I too have SSS that was finally dxed after a 30 monitor!! I also have afib which we're trying to get under control!! Much easier with the PM cause they can increase my meds. I started exercising again which I haven't been able to in years and it feels great!! By the way. Welcome and it sounds like you are doing great!

That's great!

Hey!

Thanks for confirming what I always "preach": Those with sinus bradycardia and chronotopic incompetence should get a pacemaker with a dual-sensor rate response or a CLS-sensor. It just makes such a huge difference to accelerometer only.

Glad to hear that you are doing so much better, and that you are ready for some more exercising :-)
