62.15 miler

Charity ride for work, The United way got 62000.00 166 riders total there was a 30, 50 & 62 mile ride. I signed up for the 50 due to poor road marking did a few extra. Felt good heart rate still not getting as high as I think it should. 3 of my buddy's and I all had heart rate monitor my HR was alway 20 or more bpm slower then they had. With that said, pretty happy with PM I guess it is just the way it is.

I remember that ,like me,you have SSS and have a Medtronic PM which relies on the accelerator feature for Rate Response.

You prove that cycling IS possible even though upper body movement is not that great. I, too, have now come to terms with its HR limitations but I do find that running is easier than cycling.

Good for you!!!

I don't drive that far without stopping for coffee!!

Glad to see that you are able to do what you enjoy!

Could the heart rate difference be a difference in training?

Wish it was, the guy that ride a less than I do was is 9 years younger was about 20 higher than me, the other two guys 3 years older were up to between 25~35 higher and ride a bit more. I just think it is either the PM or I just have a normally lower rate ; ).

Nice going!

Just curious if you have trouble getting up hills? Since I'm not supposed to run anymore I've taken up cycling but have difficulty with hills. Not sure if that is the pm or deconditioning after knee surgery.

Glad to hear you did so well during that charity race!

So, how much could you bring your heart rate up? Just curious. Ian and you are still the only patients I know that can get their heart rate up when cycling (not mountainbiking) with an accelerometer sensor only. So, I'm trying to figure out why it works for you, and not for the rest. I'm thinking that it probably works in patients whose sinus node or any other atrial rhythm works at least a bit. Recently joined a German facebook group for pacemaker patients that exercise, and all Medtronic patients there, who need the rate response, cannot cycle, despite numerous fine tuning attempts.

How's running going?

Yesterday, I did my first one hour run: 8.7 km in 61 minutes :-) CLS sensor reset itself last week due to a manual threshold test *grrrr*, and is now in a constant automatic optimization process again. What it's doing at the moment - 15 minutes into the run it slows the rate down, even though my pace stays about the same -, is not really physiologic, but we'll see where this leads.

I will post a link from the ride friday and the 10 mile run today. Todays run was a bit slow calf pull again. When I say my hr does not go up as it should I am comparing it to that of my cycling buddies. My run today rate was low but I was slow. You should be able to see the data. One more thing hr at beginning of today's run spiked up to 202 I think or at least hope that was a monitor problem. Will know in a day or two after I give yhe calf a little break.

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
