Does a heart rate monitor wristwatch with a chest sensor work with a pacemaker ? If so what is the best basic one I should get? With my heart problems I had before the pacer , they would never work right.

I have an FT2...less bells and whistles but I don't need much.

I also have a Polar FT2. Simple to use. I tried three others before settling on this one. The others were complicated and I spent more time trying to figure them out then getting my heart rate. The FT2 is very basic and well priced.
try before you buy

While some pm hosts do ok with a hrm, many of us can't find one that works. I tried all of the above, no luck! Either the pm interferes and it won't give a reading (most often) or it picks up the pm spikes as well as beats so the number it shows is too high. I go by how I feel. If I can talk but not sing, if I feel good, then I assume whatever my heart is doing is good.
Good luck with it!

I've yet to find a hrm that works.....
Seems we all become 'different cases' when we have our pms so it's essential to try b4 you buy. Only thing that works form eis the finger oximeter but you can hardly wear this if you're out running....

.................................try going up this page to the very top right on the grey strip and click onto ' Search '...enter Heart Rate Monitors...and you will get even more stuff.
I wonder if 'Search ' is used enough ?
Best wishes.

Yes, I went through every troubleshooting hint in the instructions, googled for more hints, called Polar, worked with the manager at Sports Authority. I returned the Polar and tried two others they sold, no luck. Once on vacation I found a tech savvy guy at a high end running store who researched online while letting me play with everything he had in the store. The last guy basically said that while there are lots of hrm's out there, there are actually very few technologies running them. As the high end companies come up with something new, their last generation technology works its way down to the less expensive companies. I haven't tried since my last replacement so maybe I could get one to work now, but I've learned to work around it so I haven't bothered.
just thought of something... when I went googling for answers, I found Pacemaker Club. My first post here was about hrm's.

Hi I use a Polar ft 4 watch is strapped to my bike handle bars and it works fine for me I also have a Garmin 500 and this HRM does not work on me but all other data does on the Garmin.I do get asked many times when riding in a group why do I have a polar watch and a Garmin as well on my bike I do get some strange comments when I tell them I have a pacemaker. I think some are surprised and that should be at home twiddling my thumbs.

It's much better to live with a pacemaker than to risk your life without one.

Hi Papjoe
I do quite a lot of running and I find that the Polar FT4 heart monitor works well for me - seems pretty accurate.
