I've been riding a riding bike on a regular basis for the last 10 years. 40K rides 5 days a week. Four years ago my heart slowed down to the point where I passed out so a PM was installed. I was back to riding within a few months with no problems. Lately I've noticed that when I'm walking, which I do on rainy days, I get dizzy mostly at the beginning of the walk. This never happens when I ride. I also get dizzy when I stand up and usually bend over a bit until it passes. I have a St. Jude PM.
Is this common as we get on with age? I'm 71.

Spring Board ??

I have a St. Jude and when I did normal nautilus back crunches the heart rate went off the charts The tech said there is an 'spring board" in PM that sends signal to increase heart rate real quick with certain rapid body movements. It is the only machine that triggers that response. Also the tech increased my PM so it pumps up pulse rate a bit quicker when walking fast etc. I am 75 so we are in the same neighborhood age wise. It took a bit of time and eletroconversion to get to my point with the bradycardia - just a very small bit of afib everyday for very brief periods - but feeling great and back to full workouts and the like - good luck with your situation

Orthostatic Hypotension

Likely your PM is not part of the problem. Orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure) comes to some of us as part of aging, usually in a minor form as in standing from a chair or suddenly exerting yourself. In my case I can not risk many activities such as riding, mountain hiking, etc. as there is a fainting risk. Read up on OH and consult your doctor. MelS
