I Have 3 Options - ALL Frustrating!

Hi all... I have not been in here in ages! All kinds of things keep happening, and I find myself worrying more about life in the real world, than about life in this strange cyber world.

So... Anyway... I have been offered 3 options by an electrophysiologist, after suffering with this horror story of a 3 lead, combination ICD/Defibrillator.

1. Leave the unit in - I was told it had never been implanted properly

2. Remove it and replace it. Why should I? So far I have yet to find a doctor I really trust, given 5 major surgeries since 2010 and all the problems that have come with them; or,

3. Have them remove it and take my chances.

There are definite pros and cons with each option, but I cannot get my wife to even discuss the issues.

Hmmm...

Thanks for replying, AngrySparrow...

I certainly did not insist on my wife's input. It is a very personal decision. I asked, she bowed out, and that's that...

The EP I saw was a most professional chap. Lots of experience, and his 3 option plan came about because of my own concerns as to what might happen if things go south.

The ICD/Pacemaker I have in is supposed to be stunningly reliable, but the amount of pain I go through is ridiculous. After more than a year, one would expect one's body to have adapted somewhat. It has not...

My breathing has gotten worse, and I have become far more prone to pneumonia, having had multiple bouts in the past year. My unit has fired several times, so I would assume, it it were absent, I would not be here talking to you. I get extremely fatigued, and frequently have tingling and numbness in my left arm and hand. Also my EF was the same as yours, and has only improved very marginally.

The improved health you describe is wonderful, and I hope you keep improving. I think, from our short encounter, that simple removal will be my preferred option.

Take care, and keep on keeping on! All the best!

You know you're wired when...

You have a shocking personality.
