How long will it last?

I just completed my 12 week checkup. All is ok. My pacemaker is set on demand for skipped heartbeats (sometimes 2-3 at a time) at a minimum of 40 beats per minute. The pacemeker worked 2 per cent of the time in the first three months and the remainder was my normal heart.
Please estimate/guesstimate how long it might be before I need a new battery or a replacement pacemeker. I am 67 years old.
Thank you,
John

Hi John I don't believe that anyone could give a meaningful guesstimate from the info you have given us.

The computer calculation, when you have your PM checked, is fairly complex and takes into account
several setting parameters.

Why not ask your PM tech, and do remember that the first estimate of your likely battery life will change repeatedly during its life !

Cheers

Ian

I wouldnt think about it.

You are a newbie, I wasn't asking this early.

John...the best thing to do is ask the next time you have an interrogation of the pacemaker, guessing doesn't work, your PM works when it's needed. I've had my PM 9 years, my heart uses it between 75-90+% of the time, I am waiting for the battery to trip, it will then be replaced. Wow!! 2%, I wish I could say that. Sunny

I`m AV block :
My 1st one was only coming in a couple of % and was set for VVI mode, 40 bpm...I got 9 years from the battery.

Just about to have battery change

Hi John
I have been told that my PM works 3% of the time and I am having my battery replaced in a months time after 10 years. You can never tell how long it will last though as you just don't know how much you will use it so I would just relax and enjoy the fact that the PM is helping you. I am told battery replacement isn't that bad (I hope) so don't worry about it until it happens.
