Hi all. just got told I need a lead replacing. as this is my 3rd pacemaker & I already have 2 working leads plus 1 left in from a previous op, how many leads can you have before they have to remove the ones not in use.

They can usually fit 3, sometimes 4. They can do a venogram (iv with dye done in the cath lab) to see how much room you have. My guess would be if you have 3 already that they'll want to extract what's there and start fresh rather than squeeze in another. Can it wait until your battery needs replaced? Just because a lead is bad doesn't mean it has to be done quickly. I had one for almost 5 years before we did anything about it. Good luck!
