Old PM: Actros DR
New PM Evia DR-T
So my hubby is experiencing severe shortness of breath and dizzyness with minor exertion, especially getting up from sitting/lying or bending over.
None of this was a problem with his old pacemaker, so I started comparing settings.
Starting with the diagnosis (Symptom)
Old: B1 Syncope. this is his correct diagnosis along with B2 fibrosis of the conduction system and normal sinus rhythm and can happen at any time not just resting as in the case of Bradycardia
New: B3 Bradycardia I think this is similar but not the same!
On the old PM, the nocturnal programing was turned off but the PM was set to "kick in" at anything less than 70bpm.
On the new one his Basic rate/night rate was set to 50bpm but changed by our doctor here to 60 and he did feel a bit better.
Night begins and night ends are not set.
We feel 50bpm or 60bpm are fine for sleeping but he is an active guy and he's miserable right now.
They did several tests on his heart before replacing this PM (due to 13 year old dead battery on the other one) and his heart is in good shape, but the Cardiologist back home says his heart seems to be "wired backwards" when it should speed up it slows down.
Can anyone please help us figure out what is going on here, what to look for etc? We currently live outside of the USA, our Dr seems good and caring, but expensive to keep running in there every 2 weeks, so would like to get this right next time.
I am happy to scan both strips (from old and new) if anyone would like to have a look,
Thanks in advance!!
Terry

You know you're wired when...
You read consumer reports before upgrading to a new model.

Today I explained everything to my doctor, he set my lower rate back to 80 and I felt an immediate improvement.
Help please?

Can anyone help me with these settings? His heart was working "just fine" before this new PM, now he is miserable after just 4 months with this new Biotronik PM. There was never an issue with the heart itself, just the nerves controlling it.
Thanks!
