Battery is at end of life

Just curious. When my pacemaker battery goes into safe mode, will I know it? I guess what I'm asking is, are there specific symptoms that will tell me I should contact my Cardio doctor?

Not that noticeable

My pacer was at ERI and it went into EOL. I noticed some weird heart beats but I get those so I thought no big deal. I went for 3.5 months on EOL safe mode without knowing it. My pulse apparently went up to 65 when it's normally 50. It's also supposed to beep every 8 hours and vibrate but mine failed to do so.
Best of luck!

There are two modes. You should be diligent about check ups at the end so you know where you are. They try to predict but it's just a guess, sometimes it lasts months after they say you are near the end, other times we think we have months but we don't. I go every three months normally, then when it gets under 3 months left, I go every month.

Elective Replacement mode is first and it feels the same, the pm is still fully functional. When it reaches End of Life, it will pace at a steady rate, probably 60. If you don't pace much, you may not feel the difference. If you depend on it and pace a lot, you'll know right away. You'll likely be tired, dizzy, but the test is your pulse doesn't go up.

I'm on my 4th now and have never let it get to EOL, I've always had it replaced when it was still ERI. ERI lasts about 3 months so there is plenty of time to schedule it.

I am noticing safe mode

The day my pace maker switched into battery saving mode when it decided the battery needed changed I started getting what can only be described as palpitations. My pacemaker only works when my heart rate drops below 60 but now only one lead is firing causing me to feel this fluttering sensation. I went straight to see PM department and they found the battery change flag coming up. I was supposed to have 6 more months before my battery needed changed but it didn't last that long. At least I know now why my heart feels as if it is beating out of my chest at times but it is horrible and the sooner I get a new battery to stop it the better.
