I've had a few heart-related issues, but when it was all done, one of my cardiologists noted a former diagnosis of brady/tachycardia. He told me that my heart rate at rest was too slow (in the mid-40's) but that under exertion it would skyrocket to the mid-160's, hence I had both bradycardia and tachycardia.
I've since had aortic valve replacement, bypass and the pacemaker. After surgery I went into complete heart block, hence the pacemaker. I no longer have the bradycardia, having a natural resting heart rate in the 60's or 70's, and I take a beta blocker to keep my heart rate from going into the tachycardia range.
I don't really like the beta blocker (for tachycardia), but over time we have adjusted the dosage to make it tolerable.
