Still Feeling Dizzy

I felt very weak and dizzy, and went to see a cardiologist. After having a Holter Monitor on for 24 hours they found that I needed a Pacemaker. It was installed on June 23, and I am home since June 25th. I still feel dizzy, and I think I need the settings adjusted. I am going on July 9th for my follow-up. Is this a common thing to still feel dizzy 8 days later.

Dizziness

My PM implanted end of January. Had occasional "flickers" of dizziness similar to the feeling I had with fainting (drop) episodes before my PM was implanted. Lasted less than a second-- really a flicker. 4 1/2 months after PM all "flickers" disappeared. All vague sensations that seemed not alarming but still unfamiliar (twinges at the site, brief moment of chest tightness, etc.) disappeared the, too. I felt like my PM and my body had settled in with each other.

Extended Dizziness

For what it is worth Sue, I had my first pacemaker 10 years ago, this was to counteract bradycardia which caused my heart to continue to 'pause'. After fitting I continued to experience dizzy spells which appeared to have baffled the hospital consultants. I remained under heart care within the hospital for seven weeks during which time I underwent a brain scan and extensive hearing/balance examinations in an effort to discover the cause, but without success. Eventually I was discharged, given a walking cane and told to rest on it when the dizzy spells occurred!

After putting up with the situation for three years I moved back to England, from Wales, with the aim of changing consultants and hospital. On booking into the pacemaker clinic at my new hospital I was immediately checked by the technicians and told that I had the wrong pacemaker fitted! I had been fitted with a single chamber PM when in fact I needed a dual chamber model to counteract the defib episodes which was causing the dizziness. 24 hours later I was admitted to hospital, my pacemaker changed, and I haven't looked back since. That PM has just expired and I was fitted with a replacement seven days ago and life is once again back to normal - NO dizzy spells for seven years what a blessing - I certainly know how you feel - good luck, I hope your symptoms will soon subside.

So glad to see so many responses. Today, I attempted to go food shopping with my husband to see how I felt. I walked all around the supermarket without getting dizzy or weak. When I got home I had a few light episodes, and did have some discomfort that is unexplainable in the chest. Not pressure or chest pain, but it stopped.
I think I will be fine till I get checked out next week.
I know enough to go to the hospital if something should get worse.
I was so glad to hear others say this could be a normal reaction for me. I have a St. Jude PM, but I have to ask if this is a single chamber or what.
I wish everyone well as they live with a PM. I have to learn this is a new way of life for me.

If you are still experiencing dizzy spells contact the doctor. He should address the issue, if not, find another freakin' doctor who will LISTEN.
