I have a pacer-sinus node problem. I have been having issues with breathing for about 6 months. Went to doctor five different times. Interrogated my pacer and tech found that something was turned off. She turned it back on and now seems my oxygen level is back but not up to par.
Could someone tell me what they did turn back on. I no that she said my level was staying at 60 and we went for little walk after ward and it went from 60 to 87. Think it had to do with blood and oxygen but don't understand. Would appreciate any help explaining this to me.

I agree with Ian, sounds like your rate wasn't getting up on exertion so they turned rate response on. Glad it helped!

Hi Lou If you have a sinus node problem, your sinus node was probably not increasing your heart rate when you exercise, so it was not getting above 60 beats per minute.
So they probably switched on something called "Rate Response" which makes up for your lazy sinus node by putting in extra heart-beats when you need them. The movement involved in walking is enough to make the Rate Response function work and to increase your heart rate from 60 to 87 !
Not everybody needs Rate Response; it sounds as though you do.
As you rightly said it is all to do with oxygen, you get more oxygen pumped around your body at 87bpm than you were getting at 60 enabling you to breathe better, It is also to do with blood because oxygen is carried in your bloodstream.
Best of luck
Ian
