Pacemaker Replacement Today!

Hi Folks, two days ago I posted that I was a bit anxiously waiting for today to have my pacer of 8 years replaced. Yes, I put up a good front for the hubby and kids, all the grandkids visited over the weekend and there were endless emails and phone calls. I even got flowers! Well I'm happy to report that it was one of the most positive, encouraging experiences of my pacemaker life.
It was a long day, had to be there for 10:00, the doctor had a long case ahead of me so I didn't get done until 3:30, but everyone was amazing including the doctor. They were totally committed to ensuring that I did not experience any pain at all. I have chronic pain, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis end stages in most major joints and pretty much hurt all the time. These people were amazing, they had padded, heated arm supports and heated blankets for my legs, moved me from bed to table and I didn't feel a thing. Before I knew it I was awake and in my bed and wrapped in warm blankets. My incision was glued as I have allergies to adhesive tape. Within an hour I was in my power wheelchair, riding out to our van and my husband was taking me home. That was 5 hours ago. I couldn't stay awake before and now my pulse is bouncing along and he's off to CVS to pick up my antibiotic.
The doctor stopped in my room before we left to say everything went beautifully and he'd see me in about 8-10 years and maybe they'd be solar powered by then.
So I just wanted to let those of you who are waiting for the tomorrow's to come, ask a ton of questions, tell them your concerns, your past bad experiences if you have had any and don't think you are the only one who doesn't know what's going on! Most of the nursing staff will be happy to help you if they aren't, tell on them and ask for someone else. It's your heart!
Have a great night!
Dale

So glad to hear that all went well and the procedure didn't cause you any pain. Sounds like you had some great health care providers.
