Should I be concerned because I just recently got over food poisoning which caused a lot of vomiting and after that episode when I lay on the same side the pacemaker is on I feel some intense pounding. It sort of feels like a muscle spasm but it feels very close to my heart. Has anyone had similar symptoms? Can vomiting cause a problem with my leads?

I've had the same thing happen to me when I've gotten sick and vomit. Anything that will weaken your pulse will cause your pacemaker to kick in (sleeping on your left side, too much exercise, eating fibrous/dense foods, getting very ill).
It's actually a good sign in regards to your pm, because it means its doing its job in the toughest of conditions.
It's good you noticed, because something that is so important is avoiding it kicking in so strongly that you feel it. That weakens your heart over time...
Stay calm and strong,
L
Thanks!

I will take your advise and record when this happens for my next interrogation. I hope all is well! This is all new to me and I am trying to pay attention to all signs. Thanks again!
Weird feelings too ;)

I had a PM implanted in August this year and five weeks later they ablated my AV node which means I am now PM dependent for the rest of my life. I've been having major problems with anxiety and fear about this, and just a few days ago ended up in the ER because I'd lost 7 lbs. in 5 days through not being able to eat and feeling so ill. I'm having a seriously long anxiety attack which I hope won't go on too much longer. I'm desperate to start feeling better. I found out at the hospital that some people are very sensitive to their bodies and I think those sensations you're feeling are the same as mine. My cardiologist gave me very little support or information, but I found out that the quivering feeling is due to the atrium filling with blood that is not synchronized with the heartbeat that the PM provides. It does feel like a spasm, you're right. The pounding is probably anxiety. I wish the doctors would realize that there is a lot more to this than just "fixing" the initial problem with a PM. I was told that I would feel 100% better and I actually feel worse, at least mentally, and that is causing it's own problems. Don't let the doctors make you feel like you're annoying them with your "whining" like mine did - they should spend a day in our shoes. The pacemaker clinic or whoever you see for follow-up should be able to help you. It seems there's a fair amount of tweaking that is necessary before things feel right...good luck!
