response/sensitivity

Hi all ,
Still having trouble with my `low speed relaxed` mode. All seems fine when active and very pleased.
My immediate get up and go is really good but get these `funny feelings` when not really doing much. I also seem to be affected sometimes by small movements but not affected if riding my motorbike.
What is the difference between `Rate response`and `sensitivity` and can they be programmed separately?
I have a Boston Energen set DDIR 70.
Thanks

Rate response Sensitivity

Rate response is the ability of your PM to change your heart rate with your exercise ( either switched on by accelerometer or chest wall movement). You have an upper and lower rate programmed into the PM.

The sensitivity is the ability to respond to your exercise needed- this can be set as fast, normal, slow ( = rate acceleration).

They are programmed separately.

It may be that you need your lower rate raised to stop your blood pressure going low and causing 'funny feelings'.
There is a trade off with battery life.

I am no expert on motor bikes- shaking the accelerometer of the pacemaker increases the heart rate ( if you repeatedly tap the PM
box, your heart will start to race! Be warned this is not for the faint hearted)

Thanks for the ideas.
I can understand it being ok on my motor bike as my heart rate is probably increased due to the concentration and physical effort .
Surely if my rate response is increased then I would be more susceptible to heart rate changes with little effort?
Your thoughts on blood pressure dropping off could be a clue but is blood pressure relative to heart rate? I`ve always had good BP and my pipe work I`m told is as good as a fit 40year old and I`m an active 67.
Thanks mg

Is blood pressure related to heart rate?

by Selwyn - 2014-12-31 07:12:04

BP = CO x PR

CO =HR x SV

BP is blood pressure. CO is cardiac output. PR is peripheral resistance. HR is heart rate. SV is stroke volume of the heart.

The 'sensitivity' is a TIME OF ONSET related thing- fast, normal and slow as mentioned above. It is not effort related. Sensitivity in this case really means speed of onset.
