I noticed that tappiong on the unit, St Jude, will increase the HR.I'm having trouble getting the HR to respond to effort when cycling. I tried using a thunping type of massage machine at home and it actually works good when placed right over the PM. It goes from 60 resting seated to 85 fairly quickly. My home unit is 110 volts so obviously wont work on a bike. Has anyone tried a mobile unit, battery operated?

accelerometer workaround

I have a battery operated TENS machine, but I'm afraid to use it because I also have AFIB and the electrical impluses might throw me into an episode. If you don't have AFIB this might work for you.
You know you're wired when...
You can take a lickin and keep on tickin.

I have a Medtronic which only has an accelerometer sensor to trigger off the Rate Response function; your St Jude must be the same.
I find that running is OK but cycling doesn't cause enough upper body movement. I have tried tapping the unit while I cycle with some success but it isn't particularly safe to do that.
I find that when I need the heart-rate to increase ,raising my body off the seat and standing on the pedals increases the up-down movement and certainly helps ; also I aim for bumps/ hollows in the road instead of avoiding them. The bumpier the ride, the better the RR function works.
I will be interested if anyone comes up with creative suggestions to copy and mechanise the effect of tapping the unit . Maybe ,as you suggest, a mobile massage unit taped to the PM site would work ?????
Cheers
