I received my Medtronic Advisa Pacemaker in April of 2014. since then, there are times the pain is so intense in my left arm and chest rea right above the pacemaker and sharp I cant use my arm. trying to lift anything above my head produces a tugging feeling and feeling as if I am being shocked. we checked the pacemaker, it is working fine, my doc said its just part of the healing process that the lead may have moved and is sitting on a nerve. all I know is OW. it hurts like heck. I cnt take NSAIDS due to kidney disease. any ideas what this could be? or a cause?

I am left handed so I use my left arm and shoulder all day long, the issue I am most concerned with, is this shocking feeling started after being diagnosed with C-Diff, and pyelonephritis. I have seen patients develop endocarditis from kidney infections. but they arent concerned about it. we do know I have 3 kidney stones inmy right kidney, that is belived to be the cause of the constant infections. Infectious diseases believes that bacteria has colonized around the stones causing the recurrent infections. I can say, this pain and shocking feeling started after I was diagnosed with C-Diff, Kidney infection, acute renal failure and diverticulitis. I spent 10 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics. the nurses and my nephrologist relayed my concerns to cardiology, I was told to deal with it, it could take up to a year to heal. the lead is most likely sitting on a nerve. all I know is when I lift my arm or move my arm I feel like I am being shocked or stung. and it hurts badly. they checked my pacemaker last Saturday it appears to be working fine. I have sick sinus syndrome and a- fib. I can't afford a 2nd opinion, I lost my job and insurance last year so I have to pay cash every time I need to be seen. and a new patient appointment is too expensive.. suggestions? ideas? clue?

Where are you located...my doc would never tell me to suck it up...docs are supposed to help...I feel my pacer all the time...it makes me literally sick to have my pacer analysed...my cardiologist offered me to have a nerve block in my chest...my EP doesn't believe me when I say my leads are hurting but my medical doc and cardiologist believe...if we can feel a heart attack, can't we feel leads that are dislodged.......Obamacare takes 5 hours to do and then it's 470 for 70/30 coverage...if you're out of work you might qualify for medicaid/Medicare...Obamacare depends on your income and state....I was out of work on short term disability with half pay...I go back to work on light duty...I can't lift more than 5 pounds...the plan is for me work for 2 days , have surgery, wait a week, and go back to work light duty for 6-8 weeks...I was going to lose my insurance at the end of this month...so I know how it feels to know you're going to lose insurance...my meds alone would cost about 800 dollars a month without insurance...go online and see if you qualify for Obamacare...there's a question there that asks you if you want to be considered for medicaid/medicare...go to your department of health and human services...if only we lived in Canada,England, even France has better medical entries...not better docs or hospitals...

I live in South Carolina who voted to not expand medicaid or accept obamacare. I qualified for 100%assistance at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC which is 3 hours away.however, its isnt a true assistance program. I have to pay 80.00 for a clinic appointment and 200 for a pacemaker check. the assistance only applies if I am a in patient but it does not cover ANY of the physicians bills. so basically it is useless. South Carolina does not offer ANY programs for indigent care. ZERO. it is ridiculous.

I'm 43 and have had my pacemaker four weeks today. I'm looking forward to living another 50 years and this marvelous device inside me will help me do that.
