To a very special member, and a very dear friend.
September 5, 2007.
Maureen, your name means " Star of the Sea. " And as such, here is a poem I'm sure was written with you in mind.
I hope you have a super nice special day.
~ Dominique ~
A poem by Edith | 6/1/2007 age 12.
Beautiful Maiden, Star of the sea,
Look down with love, upon me.
Give me grace, hope, love and truth,
To keep with forever through old age and youth.
Guide me with Your glittering eyes,
Comfort me with Your calming arms,
Kiss me with Your tender lips,
And hold me away from harms.
Beautiful Maiden, Star of the sea,
Look down with love, upon me.
Hold my hand when I cross danger
And when I speak with bad behavior.
Cover my ears when there is sin
Close my eyes when there is wrong
Carry me away when there is noise
And bring me back with Your song.
Beautiful Maiden, Star of the sea,
Look down with love, upon me.
Hug me tight when I feel lonely,
Tell me a story to me when I am sleepy,
Sing to me when I am weepy,
Touch me once when I feel afraid
And all fear will be gone.
Beautiful Maiden, O Star of the sea,
Mother, look down with love upon me.
Whisper in my ear when all is dark
Sooth me with Your voice when evil embarks.
Beckon to me when the people go
And bring me to where Your sacred roses grow.
Beautiful Maiden, Star of the sea,
My Mother, Ave Maria,
Standing before me in a robe of white,
Your beautiful hair swaying left to right,
Shining like a million Stars, does Your beautiful face,
Give me faith, hope, love, truth,
Give me Your love, give me Grace.

A Special Day

Good poem you chose Dominique! Thank you for sharing that! It surely is Maureen down to the last word! Its hard to find an amazing friend like Maureen. Shes helpful in so many ways and always takes the time to help a fellow pacer in any way she can.
Furthermore, we all know how lovely she is on this website, but Behind the scenes, she takes the time to write personal messages to fellow pacers practically on a daily basis. With Maureen, you never know what wonderful surprises she has in store.
For instance, one day I was about to step out of my house to run some errands, and there on the front step of my house, was a package from dear Maureen herself! She goes through all these trials, but still comes out to face the world with a vibrant and strong spirit, which makes her who she is today. Yesterday, however
.lol just kidding.
Maureen, may God bless you in anything you do and I hope you have a wonderful birthday! You deserve it!
Take care,
~valerie
P.S. At age 12, my poems didnt sound like that! It was more like time time, lime lime, does anybody have a dime?
I think Ive gotten better, though. So, heres to you Maureen:
Time, Time.
Lime, Lime,
Maureen, do you have a dime?
Birthday Girl

Glad to hear you had a nicely spent birthday and that you have your little device tucked all away neatly inside your chest letting your birthdays become another blessing! :)
Actually, the phrase is Spanish. I'm a Spanish teacher and have been speaking it for about 20 years (and NO, I'm not anywhere near passing for Hispanic)! I have uncles that live in Brazil, so I've also picked up Portuguese as well--the two languages are very close. One of my uncles teaches English down there, and he set me up years ago with a Brazilian pen friend from his school. I speak several languages--it's kinda my aptitude! What part of Brazil did you live in??--that's amazing!!
Keep in touch!

Who is the 12 year old, Edith, who wrote this lovely poem? What a God-given talent this child has. This poem really sent chills down my spine and gave me goosebumps as I read it, thinking about a 12 year old girl writing it. Such a mature, thoughtful poem. Thank you for sharing it with Maureen and all of us.
Blessings,
Sharon

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
Oh Happy Day!
