Issues after fourth PM

Hello,
I had an ASD repair at 2yo and received my first pacemaker at 18. I am now 45 and have a very active lifestyle. I typically hike 30 mi. a week up steep terrain and spend the winters skiing. A day after my fourth implant I could barely make it up a set of stairs. I have had atrial tachycardia that lasts for up to 3 days (120bpm) four times and meds dont work in breaking the arrythmia. I already had an ablation 7 years ago which caused chronotopic incompetence so I don't want to have another ablation. Has anyone else had complications directly after a new PM placement. I'm not convinced my new arrythmia is not a result of my latest surgery or a faulty device.

Could it be the settings?

Hi,

Did you check to make sure your new PM's settings are set exactly like your old one? I have a friend who after getting her new PM, started having issues and feeling horrible right away. As it turned out, they left her new PM at the default settings, which were not at all right for her. Because she's 100% paced, this made a big difference. She thought it was the new PM, when it was actually just the settings. She went in, had the settings changed to what her old one was set at, and she felt wonderful!

I would call your Cardio doc or PM tech to see if this could be it.

Good luck!
