Chronic clot in left arm

I am thankful to have a forum that might help answer some concerns. I was put on Xarelto for three clots that developed after my surgery in October, 2014. That is a three month treatment for me. My left arm still remains about 1 inch larger than the right. My hematologist said I have a chronic clot. She is referring me to another cardiovascular surgeon. Has anyone been diagnosed with a chronic clot? I would appreciate knowing some options and their outcome. At this point I am really questioning the need to go to another surgeon and the expense just to be told my veins are coping around it.

a similar problem where the leads enter the vein. Two clots that are pretty much permanent have narrowed the location (scar tissue now). I got my pm in Oct of 2012. My left arm was swollen for awhile but I now have collateral veins in shoulder and upper arm. I work quite hard and have no disability (I am 60 yrs old). There are no plans to correct anything. I also have some jugular vein distention when bending down and when pressuring the chest area. I just have to live with it. I was on warfarin but switched to xaralto about 18 months ago.
