OK. I'm sorry to be off the topic of pm's here, but I was curious who in this wonderful club has ever undegone gallbladder surgery? I'm due to have mine out June 9th, and I was just looking for info. from people who have had it done. I have time on my hands waiting for June 9th, so I keep thinking about it.
The surgery will be done on an outpatient basis because it is being done laparoscopically. Gallbladder problems run in the women in my family, and my HIDA scan showed an abnormal functioning gallbaldder. I've had stomach pains since March 13th, and have been to my primary care doc then the gastro then the surgeon with all sorts of tests and meds and misdiagnosis in the meantime.
Any info. you can give me on your symptoms, your surgery, or your recovery would be greatly appreciated!

I had it done (with labaroscopic surgery) about 10 years ago. Stayed in hospital one night, no problems. I had it done on monday, on friday I drove a fire truck to a fire. Of course my wife chewed me out. Other than that no sweat.
no fear

I have had that particular labaroscopic surgery and it really is easy. Very little recovery time. Good luck and don't worry. aldeer
Surgery

Hello Ela-Girl,
I still have my gall bladder but I had a double hernia repair using the laparoscopicc procedure a few years ago. I went home about 4 hours after my surgery. While I have felt better than I did on that 30 mile trip home, it was not bad. Within a few of days I was doing just about anything I wanted to do. I really had no pain to speak of. I was a little sore for a few days, but that was it.
I wish you the best,
Smitty

I have not had the surgery but my husband did.
They did the laporoscopic and he did just fine. His was an acute case but he had to wait two days in the hospital to get his blood thickened as he was on coumadin (blood thinner) for his heart.
He woke up early one morning with severe pain and we called EMS; we thought it was his heart, but it wasn't.
He did wonderful after the gall bladder surgery.!
Hope you do as well!
Margaret

I had my Gallbladder removed in December of 2006. All I can say is that god I had it done or else I may have never learned I had a heart problem before it was to late.
It was very simple. I was in the hospital for a few days, mostly because the hospital I was at sucked and they kept putting me off. But The day after It was done I was totally fine. One Tip I do have for ya is Shave your legs the day of or the day before the surgery. I had a hard time bending over for about a week . Other then that it was as easy as frozen Pie. :-) I wish you Good Luck. and If ya have anymore questions feel free to ask. :-)

HI ELA-GIRL,
I DIDN'T HAVE MY GALLBLADDER OUT AS YET, BUT PRETTY SURE IT'S COMING!! I TOO HAVE BEEN IN PAIN ESPECIALLY AFTER I EAT, FOR OVER A WEEK NOW. I'M GOING TO THE DR. TOMORROW. BUT I DID WANT TO SAY THAT I HAD MY APPENDIX OUT WITH THE SCOPE METHOD AND IT WAS PRETTY EASY. ONE LITTLE CUT IN YOUR BELLY BUTTON AND THEN I HAD 2 MORE DOWN LOW. IT HEALED PRETTY FAST, AND I DIDN'T HAVE PAIN AT ALL WHEN I GOT HOME, JUST RESTED A FEW DAYS, AND FELT BETTER. BETTER THEN WHEN I WENT IN TO EMERG. IT WAS READY TO BURST THE DR. SAID, "NURSE RATCHITT" AT THE HOSP. SAID I HAD "INDIGESTION", BOY DID I WANT TO GIVE HER SOME INDIGESTION!!!! ANYWAY, GOOD LUCK, I KNOW YOU'LL DO FINE, AND YOU WILL FEEL SO MUCH BETTER WITHOUT THAT PAIN.
TAKE CARE,
JANICE

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!
Good Luck!

Sorry ela-girl I have no experience with that. But I do want to wish you the best with that, I am sure you will be up and about quickly. Now just don't think about it too much!
