I had a pacemaker implanted one week ago and I ran my first 3 miles this morning and got a 30 mile bike ride in this afternoon. Before the procedure to correct a Brady situation, I was very concerned about taking a lot of time off from training. After my one week check-up, I was given the green light to run and bike. I am posting this to let other athletes who may go through the same procedure, that, at least for me, this was a bump in the road. I do not want to minimize the seriousness of this procedure but do want to say that you can return to an exercise regimen rather quickly after the implant. Thanks to the Docs, HCare professionals and the Med Device companies for a new lease on life.

Congratulations! That sounds amzing to me. I am 4 days post procedure and can't begin to imagine running anywhere either. However I was just released from the hospital today so I guess I need to be patient with myself.
Reading posts like tese give me hope though.

Amazing, glad to hear your progress. I was told at least 4 weeks before I got on a bike, one nurse said longer. Reasoning was they wanted the leads to heal where they belong.
Today was 29 days for me and got on the bike for the first time. It wasn't epic due to cracked ribs and I'm still sore around the device, but was sure awesome to be out there. I'm also told I'll be able to get back to bike racing etc. Looking forward to it.
Awesome!!

Nice to hear. I am getting a pacemaker for fainting spells due to my heartrate dropping too low occasionlally. I am an endurance athlete who had an ironman triathlon scheduled for Oct. (deferring till next year). Glad to hear that you are recovering quickly.
My Dr told me I would have no trouble doing my events. At this point I will only need the low heartrate set. My resting heartrate is in the mid 50's. We talked about setting the low rate at 50, but now wondering it should be lower. I had my last episode (without fainting) when I had the holter monitor on and it dropped to 29.

That's great to hear, good for you! I'm 3 days post procedure and don't feel like I could ever run again right now. Hearing your story gives me hope though.
