Hey. I just got my first PM 2 weeks ago for SSS and I´ve just started to realize that I´ll have it for the rest of my life. I´m still having troubles with that. Im 30 years old and I really didn´t see this coming.
One of the reasons is: Doctors told me that with a PM I could do almost anything but martial arts. I´ve been practising Kung Fu zwice a week for 2 years now and I really don´t want to stop that. I´ve had problems for with my joints 13 years so there´s a lot of things that don´t work for me (basically everything with running) and Kung Fu has become really important for me. It´s just the perfect combination of Workout, moves, selfdefence and dealing with stress. Does anyone of you have experience or any suggestions on how I could continue with it? THANKS!

Ask your doctor about your ability to continue.
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but your post states the doctor said 'anything BUT martial arts' and in my world Kung Fu IS a martial art.
Many of us didn't see pacemakers coming or the adjustments if/when needed but we realize how lucky we are to have this technology during our lifetimes.
There are many other things that can be substituted for Kung Fu. What about doing it on a Wii or some gaming thingy, keep the rush but don't get hurt?
Life sometimes hands out lemons but you just have to make lemonade!
Best wishes to you with the bumps on the highway of life.

I was also 30 when my heart started its descent from normal.
Life changes, we cannot control physical things but it's imperative that you get rid of the anger and frustration this event is causing you. Stress isn't good for cardiac problems.
After my first flat lining/cardioversion, I bought my first pack of cigarettes on my way out of the hospital.
Seeing as it was all but over, I'd better try smoking, right??
Well, the ciggies didn't last, it was kinda counter-productive but I've had a couple of very decent decades since then.
I came back to tell you that you probably have a lot of wonderful life ahead. Please embrace it.

As long as there's no other underlying physical or heart issues, the main risk from physical activity is avoid a direct blow to the PM site. Not because it will damage the device, but because it can bruise the surrounding tissues, leading to bleeding or infection... not to mention pain.
If you can find a way to avoid being hit on the PM site - some sort of padding or shield - that doesn't restrict your movement, you're sorted. Or you could just be careful!
Is your PM under the muscle? Mine is, and is quite well protected. No direct blows over the last 18months to comment on, despite pushing the boundaries a bit with CrossFit, skydiving, etc...
