Pacemaker/High Blood Pressure

I just discovered this club. Wish I had found it sooner as I thought I was the only one fighting this battle. The same night I got the pacemaker my blood pressure soared to 225/125. I was not taking medicine and the nurses were frantic. I was put on five different kinds of medicine which nearly killed me. And no one was willing to help me discover what was wrong. I finally took myself slowly off all but one but there was still the highs and lows. I finally found a book called "Living Gluten Free for Dummies" and a chapter in there was "high glycemic foods" and that was what I needed. I no longer eat those foods and my pressure has become normal again (115/75) But it took over a year to find this solution. I even wrote a letter to the company that makes them and they were not about to admit that their machine could be the cause of my problems. Hope this can help some else. Grace

gluten and glycemic index

I admit to some confusion too.

Gluten, a protein found in wheat and its cousins, is not the same high glycemic index, a measure of certain foods' ability to raise one's blood sugar. Some foods do have both gluten and a high glycemic index, but not all do. For instance, cooked white rice, a gluten-free food, has a higher glycemic index than table sugar.

I think the pacemaker insertion and the high blood pressure happened together but I doubt if one caused the other. On the other hand the connections between high glycemic foods, diabetes and blood pressure are well known.

That being said, I know from my own experience that avoiding certain usually harmless foods can bring about huge health improvements for some people. I'm glad you found the secret to controlling your blood pressure.

So you're saying??

So you're saying the pacemaker caused your gluten problems?

Or are you saying your hidden gluten problems were the cause of your high blood pressure? If so, I don't see how the pacemaker would have been the cause of your problem.

I don't see your point about the pacemaker being the cause of your problems?

Clarification?
