Heart pains, sorness around pacemaker site

Hello, this is my first pacemaker. I have had it in for six months. It took me a while to get over the surgery (three months) with weakness, tiredness and could hardly walk. I was very high functioning before the surgery with seniors exercises four times a week, power walking, and lots of activity etc.
Now since pacemaker insertion I am having trouble walking long distances such as a couple of miles. When I over-do working around the house, walking too far etc my pacemaker throbs, is sore. When I sit down to rest I get thumbing big atrial beats, sharp pains in my heart area.
Can anyone tell me if there is anything that can be done about this. I have been back to my GP and cardiologist several times, have had all the tests again, but they said they have never heard of this. Has anyone else had this problem with their pacemaker. I am disappointed as everyone told me I should be able to function as I did before and miss my old active life style.

I have had my pacemaker for 8 months. I expected to have more energy after the implant. Now I'm tired all of the time. I'm on two different meds. for tachycardia and high blood pressure. Neither of which I ever had before...in fact before pm I had super low BP. I can't walk a block without being short of breath and I was walking three miles a day before. I am not overweight and I just turned 56 but feel 86. I t still hurts to sleep on my left side and I am discouraged.

I wish I could give you a high five and say it gets better, but honestly, I felt ten times better before I did this.
