Pacemaker

Hi, I'm new to this site and have not been feeling100% since having my pacemaker procedure on 31/8/2015. Before procedure my heart rate was very low now with pacemaker surgeon set at 60 BPM. I had very high BP before procedure which never came down to a safe level even with meds. Now, and for some weeks I have muscle weakness, feeling faint and lightheaded, dizziness and no energy.
I have an appointment to see my Dr. on the 6/1/2016 and due to the Christmas break can't get in sooner.
Can anyone tell me if they have had similar symptoms or could it be my pacemaker is not working properly.
Thank you.

probably not pacer

All the pacer is doing is adding beats when your heart is too slow. It's possible that adjusting the settings may give you more energy, but given the bp issues it sounds like something else is going on.

Could the symptoms be the increase in bp meds?

I read your comments about feeling light headed and that is a concern. Hopefully you are refraining from driving. Were you started on any new medications for your blood pressure at the time your pacer was implanted? Have you had a follow up with your local pacemaker clinic yet? If you become more symptomatic do go to your local ER. Don't drive there by yourself. Have someone drive you.

Why so low, 60 bpm?

I suspect your doctor wants to reduce the risk of heart failure hospitalization due to conventional pacing.

A study comparing a hospital that does conventional pacing with a hospital that activated the cardiac conduction system (at the His bundle) suggested that conventional pacing results in 13% of patients (whom were paced at least 40% of the time) were hospitalized for heart failure. See the first paper listed at "His-pacing.org."
