Not a complication as such, just a quick question.
I'm just 6 weeks post implant and right at the end of my incision it just looks like the end of a black stick is popping out, just enough to show and catch on my shirt. It's not red or inflamed it looks like it's healing well. I'm pretty sure my consultant said all the stitches would dissolve or their own accord over the course of a few weeks.
Anyone had any similar experiences?

Were this me, I'd inform the doctor or the surgeon, IMO, this is not "normal" .. but then, I have had zero complications, other than the outrageous sums of money that the Holy Spirit and associates charge .. My stitches did ''dissolve'', maybe yours will not ..

I suspect it is simply the end of a protruding stitch that's been there from day one but as the wound has healed it become more noticeable. It's only small, 1mm, 1/16" long if that. I'm due to see my GP Friday to sort my medication out, I'll mention it then.

I had a little stitch sticking out after my last two replacements, but it was a thin clear thread, similar to fishing line, not a stick. For sure don't pull it, but you can snip it. Clean the scissors with alcohol and get as close as you can, then put a dab of neosporin on it. When in doubt, ask them to take a look at it, or do it for you.
Update.

Popped in to see the practice nurse this morning. She said it was fine, it's not uncommon for the end of a stitch to pop through. It's not eroded its way out or become infected. As the stitch is protruding slightly she advises I cover it with a small dressing, just to stop it snagging on my clothing (which is what it was doing) The sutures used will dissolve but that make take a few weeks more.

This is normal. Mine was there for almost 9 weeks. Just do not pull on it. It should come on out or yes dissolve. Hope this helps.
