Irregular rhythm since replacement

Hi everyone. I'm a 37 yr old female with congenital third degree heart block and dual lead PM since the age of 3. I've just had my 5th PM replacement at the end of Jan and for the last 2 weeks I've had an irregular rhythm kick in once I start any form of light activity. It starts really slow, then into a very quick pattern until finally settling into a normal rhythm. I have never experienced this after any of my prior replacements. I am booked into the pacing clinic on Thursday and am curious to see if any of you have experienced this kind of thing before? I have a prior history of palpitations since 2009 (just started out of the blue one night and have continued ever since!) but these feel like skipped beats. I appreciate any feedback and hope you are all happy and healthy with your pacemakers!!

rate response

I wonder if they left rate response turned on? It'll sense movement and raise your rate for you. With just av block, we don't usually need it so they can turn it off.

I got my 5th one on Feb 1 :)

Thanks

I also have congenital complete heart block. In 2012 I started with palpation also related to activity. I frequently complained and no one could figure it out. My latest hospital stay a nurse figured it out while watching me on a monitor. My atrium would run much faster than my ventricle could when I would get up and move. My maximum was set at 130 and my atrium was going faster than that giving me a feeling like my heart was flip flopping like a fish out of water. I started on a low dose beta blocker 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg at night. It has solved the problem and I feel great.

Good luck.
