getting a-fib episodes 3 years after DC PC

I haven't posted in quite some time.  At present I am a 62 year female, had a dual chamber PC implanted 3 years ago for uncontrolled atrial tachycardia.  After a few bumps in the PC road of life, I was doing quite well.  After my last PC check, my doctor sat me down and told me I was having episodes of a-fib for up to 90 minutes long, about one a week for the last 3 months, and was at risk of having a stroke at some point. He told me the top of my heart is just a mess (after doing 6 ablations and then impanting the PC.)  I haven't felt these a-fib episodes.  Oh, I feel some arrythmia's at times, but not the a-fib episodes.  My cardiologist said that at some point he will have to put me on a blood thinner, but hesitates to do that as I already bleed so easily and have constant bruising on my arms and legs.  He is being cautious about putting me on a blood thinner as it might cause internal bleeding in my case.  I am also a severe asthmatic.  Tonight, however, I have had some arrythmia going on for about 2 hours.  I don't think it's the a-fib going on though, but am not sure.  My pulse, according to my oximeter is pretty steady at 64.  I feel a little tightness in the chest, but not too bad.  I guess my main worry is having a stroke, because my doc said I was at risk for a stroke with these a-fib episodes.  I try not to think of that.  I guess I am just looking for some assurance that this is normal.  I do have a call in to my doctor, but he is in emergency surgery right now.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
