Waiting two weeks is not an option! You have to be very aggressive if you are going to reduce the chances of having to take the whole thing out. You need to know exactly what strain you are dealing with asap so it can be treated correctly.

This has been going on a long time. Were I you, I'd get a second opinion. Rest assured an infection of the PM site is serious business and not to juist wait and see. You never indicated did they do blood tests and tissue samples to check for infection. Even when they find an infection they have to ascertain what bug you got to effectively treat it. Ask anybody who's worn one, you don't want to be forced to run around with a life vest, chest vacuum, and infusion pump. Again, it took 4.5 months to clear my infection before they could implant a new device in the opposite shoulder.
