Does anyone know the proper protocol for administering a Stress Test to someone who is likely to experience sudden cardiac arrest , has only 1/3 of her heart , a completely defective ICD acting as a time bomb in her chest, needs a heart transplant , is deeply depressed and stressed to the max ?

My best advice

You sound as if you are unsure of your cardiologist. I would have 100% faith in my doctor. If you don't, find one with whom you do have that confidence. Don't wait, be proactive, by all means you should feel at ease with your doctor to proceed. Best wishes and prayers. Leslie

My friend had a heart transplant

I don't have any answers to your first questions. However, regarding your concerns and depression over a heart transplant I have something positive to offer. My friend is celebrating her 11th year with her transplanted heart and is doing really well! She was very weak back then and no one could believe the doctors would think she would even survive the surgery - but she sure did!

Why?

I don't want to seem insensitive but why would the cardiologist even be thinking of a stress test at this point if your friend's cardiac problems are already known? What would the stress test prove or diagnose that he doesn't already know? Sometimes you have to step back and say enough! Perhaps your what your friend needs more at this point is love and prayers and support instead of more tests that would only endanger her heart more. My prayers are with both of you and I certainly hope she can get a new heart soon. Lenora

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
