So I have read a lot of posts in the past month about how we would all really enjoy to have a pacemaker club reunion type thing. I have said to some that I am willing to start putting something together but haven't because I have not heard any responses back. So my curiousity is ruling over me. How many are interested in meeting up and having a get together?
I know that we are all so spread out and it could be a little hard. I think meeting in the middle would not be a bad thing. I know of a building near me that could probably be rented out with a catered in meal.
If we would do this I am not very creative I can plan things and get things oraganized I can talk anybody ear off but I guess what I am saying is we would need some others to be involved to make it happen.
Just my thoughts!
Oh yes, and I am trying to get the birthday list put together so please send me your birthday and you pacer birthday if you feel up to it.
Thanks and much thoughts to y'all!
Tammy

You do live so close where exactly do you live? To the others I live in DSM, IA . I know that there are some other Iowa pacers on here and hopefully would be willing to get involved also.
Thanks,
Tammy

First of all, where are you? I'm in South Carolina, down south.
My birthday is Dec 7, 1941. You older folks may remember that as the very day Pearl Harbor was bombed which started WWII.
My pacer implant day is August 18, 2005.

The idea of a face-to-face reunion of members is of great interest. I'm also curious to know if people would be willing to travel to such an event.
If there is enough interest, I would also be happy to help arrange something.
Members, please share your thoughts.

Hi Tammy.
I was able to dig this up for you. It should make birthdays a little easier to put together. Have fun.
I hope you have better luck with it than I did.

Did someone say PARTY?
by pacergirl - 2008-02-20 10:02:47
hee hee As many of you know I live in Kansas and I would be very interested in traveling to Iowa for a face to face meeting with my pacer family. It would be fantastic. I only need to know where I can stay (hotel) and where the party is. hee hee I am excited about this potential meeting. What fun this would be. I can hardly wait! I hope we can pull it together!
There are many facilities that will help you plan something of this size if you ask the right people. Some resorts, some hotels, some gathering spots. This could be really nice for all of us. It is even possible to get very good rates and arrange for speakers to come and give talks about pacers or whatever! hee hee I can hardly wait! Yes, I am in marketing.
love, pacergirl
Sounds interesting

I live in Texas. That would be pretty neat to have a group of us all together. For those of us that live too far, maybe there could be separate reunions for each region of the country (north, south, west coast, east coast, mid west...). What do you all think?

Blow ins
by TKS - 2008-02-21 02:02:02
I have a tiny house but would be happy to lend my couch to someone. :-)
Tammy, here is a suggestion....media loves this kind of stuff, so if you are going to negotiate a place to gather and can get media interest (kcci TV perhaps?), you might point it out to whomever (whoever?) you are negotiating price with that they may get some free media out of the deal. Businesses love free advertising!
Let me know if you need help with anything. Sounds like you have got quite a few folks excited about the idea!

Me too from here

How about blow ins from other countries? Could PMpals help with hosting? I certainly would travel for such an event. I wonder if Kay would accompany me? Billie
Hi Billie!
by tcrabtree85 - 2008-02-21 11:02:28
Hi Billie!
I plan on looking into a hotel sometimes hotels will cut really awesome deals for trips and if it's a pretty high number I am sure we could do some fundraisers to make it easier on everybody.
I am also a cheap person and am pretty sure I can talk to some places to go down in price for us. It would be great to have as many people able to come as possible.
The thoughts right now are like a three day weekend type deal, with hopefully some speakers and a variety of activities and of course a lot of social time ( we all know that I love to talk).
After my vaccation I will start making all the calls and see what I can gather together. I will keep everybody updated.
Blessings,
Tammy

Tammy,
How about the Des Moines YMCA? I know the YMCA of the Rockies here in Colorado offer their facilities for large gathering of people, whether it be family reunions, conferences, retreats. And they also have special rates. They offer lodging, meals, recreation etc...
It wouldn't hurt to check it out. Just a thought.

TKS - Friendship and Kindness
by Blueaustralia - 2008-02-22 04:02:36
Thanks for the kind thought. There seems to be a lot of interest in a reunion. If I came over I would gladly accept an offer or if we can get a good hotel discount. It is a long way for me to come so I would have to make it worth while and do a trip around America so will look out the travel brocures from the Travel Agents here. Billie
