Wake up call; again

Well it has been one week since my PM was installed. So far no problems. I head in for my first check up today and looking forward to a clean bill of heath with it.
You know this has been quite a ride. It all started with a TIA in 87. That was brought on by a stupid activity of helping my son and his friend carry a deer up a ravine while in the second stages of a real bad cold. My second episode occurred in 95; after ignoring dozens of warning signs I ended up with an angina attack, which resulted in quadruple bypass surgery.
All that was not enough. In 02 another trip to the hospital. Left there with four stents added to my body. Not wanting to stay away to long I had a stroke in 04; fully recovered from that one, well mostly anyway.
I know that most, if not all of it, was brought on by two things. A change in physical activity; I became lazy after playing racquet ball, running, hunting and all that (hunting was a by product of getting into the mountains). The other was eating to much food, and the wrong food as well. (I'm not fat; 6 ft and 190 pounds)
Not wanting to be out done after the bypass I gradually moved off the good food and small portions to eating more, and again the wrong stuff. Reading any cardiac diet it will list the good stuff on the left and the bad stuff on the right. I just gradually migrated to the right side over a period of time.
With all this I need to tell you that God is still on the throne, He is still with me, and still loves me. He has to be shaking His head and waiting for me to get my act together. After 70 years I can only ask Him to forgive me for having such a thick head...

Wow! You do like to keep the doctors and hospitals busy. One thing about it - I bet they call you by your first name. I hope you have moved back to the left for your diet and are returning to better health! God is so good in that He allows us to be complete and utter fools, then forgives us and helps us do the right thing. Unfortunately, far too many of us are like you including me. Why is it we tend to test our mortality? Anyway, nice to have you posting and hope to hear more from you. God bless and keep you healthy!
