Dear All, My father is implanted with a CRT-D (Medtronic Model: DTBC2D4) in Hyderabad, India in June 2017. (It is been only 1.5yrs old). Now, the doctor & technican says that the battery life left over is only 6months, and the doctor is suggesting us to go for the device replacement.
We are surprised and disappointed at this moment, since it is only 1.5year since the device is implanted. I dont understand how can a costly device would work only for 1.5 years. We were told at the time of implantation that the device would work for 5-7years.
Whom should I contact for this? Has anyone enocunterd with a similar situation?

You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.

Has it fired? Every time it fires, it shortens the life. Ask about the condition of his leads, that can cause batteries to deplete quickly. Last, I would look up his device model, see if it's one of the ones with a recall. It shouldn't be because they stopped implanting them before 2017, but that's what the recalled ones do, suddenly deplete.
