Tune up

whenever it comes time for me too get my batteries recharged or however they do it how much down time is there? Is it similar to when it gets first installed or how’s that work?

The batteries don't get recharged, or replaced.  The entire pacemaker is replaced.  The same leads can usually be reused.

I haven't had it done yet but it's, in theory, a much simpler prodedure because the PM pocket is already there.  They do an incision, pop one out, the new in, and with a bit of glue and tape, you're on your way.  Obviously, you'll have another incision and scar (along side the original) to care for.

Your whole pacemaker is replaced. Unless you have an issue with the leads they use the same ones. My first replacement I was in the hospital at 7am and out by 1 in the afternoon. Stopped for lunch on the way home. Because there were no leads put in there were no restrictions on what to do. The doctor said I could go to work the next day. (not that I did)

They usually go in the same place so no new incision and it's all scar tissue. Super easy, I'm on my 5th. The battery and computer are one sealed box so they replace the whole thing. They only replace leads if there is a problem.
