exercise with pacemaker?

I got my PM 8 weeks ago and started back at the gym 2 weeks ago, weight and resistance training, and it seems my PM is protruding more on left side.  I can see and feel the bumps (about 4) that the leads make.  I am 5' 1"  120 lbs so not much body fat.  Does exercise do that or is it just normal?  Thanks so much for all theadvice, you all make this so much easier!

Pacemaker visible

Hi Rebecca,

I'm a lot bigger than you are (5' 10" - 205lbs) and even my pacemaker is quite obvious, with the leads clearly isible. Being a guy, it probably doesn't bother me as much as it does you but my cardiologist said it was perfectly normal.  As always, ask your EP about it.  Perhaps there is something they can do about it.  You could have your next one placed under the muscle, if it really bothers you.

Pacemaker Visible

My first PM was barely visible after the swelling had subsided.  I marked my chest right b4 so I would have it exactly where I wanted (away from arm, bra strap, & where there would be more 'fat' to hide it). My new PC 5 yrs later and 3 months old protrudes the size of my palm.  My new EP promised he would put it in exactly the same place & use the same scar & pocket. My new one is as you described, the plastic part where the leads connect is at the top very near my collarbone.  On the first, the plastic part w/leads was placed at the bottom where my pec begins so more fat=more hidden. I HATE the new placement, it is in the way when I move my arm and rubs against my collarbone when I move.  The entire PM actually moves a great deal when I move my arm. My EP said he would move it. He said, 'I can't tell where it will end up when you're lying on the table'. Isn't that his job after having many years of EP experience??? He also said, people just have to learn to adjust how they move their arm. I don't want to go thru it yet again & have too many health issues to add this to the list.  BUT I'm not sure I can live with this. This is not VANITY but about FUNCTION!

Your problem isn't about touching it. It's your body and touching it will cause no harm!

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
