CLS in Biotronik good or bad?

I had a Biotronik inserted 3 days ago. Me pulse races to hr of 120-130 with minor, minimal exertion. I have read on some posts that some EPS feel that the system’s CLS is the problem, and this feature should be turned off . Anyone have any experience or opinions?

I have no experience of CLS but have an opinion !

It is early days and you won't have yet had the CLS function adjusted properly to suit your needs. You have only had your pacemaker 3 days , you may need several adjustment sessions before the settings are right for you.

There is only one thing which determines whether you should have CLS switched on or off .... do you suffer from  " Chronotropic Incompetence " or not ?   If you do, it means that your heartrate doesn't increase as it should when you exercise in which case you need it switching on.

If you DO suffer from C.I. then you need Rate Response switching on and CLS is the Biotronik sensor used to trigger off Rate Response. It is claimed to be incredibly physiological in that it responds to stress as well as exercise.

If you turn it off but you do suffer from Chronotropic Incompetence then you will get really out of breath soon after starting exercise and you will feel dreadful.

I strongly recommend that you persuade your PM guru to wire you up for an ECG while walking / running on a treadmill and you will then find out if you suffer from C.I. or not. If you do, then you need C.L.S switching on and importantly you need the fine settings adjusting to meet your needs.

As your HR is increasing rapidly with minimal exercise it seems that either you do not need CLS or it is set at too sensitive a level.

Best of luck

Leads to "settle

Interesting....so many different approaches!

Ï have a Medtronic with the RR turned on, but only after the 6-week mark, as the cardio feels that slow and steady in the first 6 weeks is important to properly embed the leads. He did not want a high HR until then.....

I agree with Ian, it sounds as though you need a tune-up!

CLS

I agree with Ian, if you have CI, then you need it turned on, it's not really optional if you want to be at all active. CLS is the most sophisticated rate response out there. It learns you, which means it's going to take some time to get it adjusted properly, more so than if you had a simple accelerometer. If you dig up old posts by Inga (golden_snitch), she is completely dependent on her pacer, uses CLS, runs marathons, and she understands it and can explain it better than a lot of doctors. She has a couple of posts in the archives with excellent explanations.
