Aloha, all!
I was wondering if anyone has found data on incidence of lead fracture for pacemaker recipeints who row. I just had a pacemaker implanted a week ago (subclavian placement) and my EP indicated returning to rowing would not be a problem. However, it seems like many professionals recommend against rowing.
I am a single sculler, and a typical practice schedule for me is 25k-30k, 6 days a week. I love rowing and hate the thought or reducing training volume or stopping, but I also want to be responsible and moderate any risk of lead fracture.
If anyone can share links to research or share personal experiences I would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance!

I don't "row", I "paddle". The best thing is we get to see where we're going! Ha Ha.
Anyway, it might be helpful to you to read one of my old posts about PMs and athletes. It's in this thread...

Many thanks, my forward-facing friend! That is extremely helpful info. Also, it's great to learn that you have been training so consistently without complications.

My pacemaker was implanted 5 years ago. I was told to allow 30 days for the leads to form scar tissue on my heart wall and become firmly attached. I have had no imitations regarding exercise. At age 78 I do repetitive weight lifting exercises and aerobic movements very similar to rowing. If in doubt ask your cardiologist during your implant follow up visit.
