Not getting any response from my doctor's nurse about whether or not I can use our riding mower nor about upper body work in the gym. So, here I am.
Any suggestions regarding the upper body workouts? I figure start light and avoid latpulldown at this point. Sitting chest press should be gentle as well as seated row. Free weights light. Maybe 5 lbs or less.
BTW I am 71.
Thanks for your input

working out

I've been working with a trainer for about 2 months and practicing yoga for 4 after the lead revision in January. I have no restrictions from my doctor. I am still working with range of motion problems, but these have gotten much better with the help of my very excellent trainer. I don't do anything that squeezes the pecs yet, but we'll most likely get there. Otherwise, it's all good!

My EP doesn't want me to do free weight bench presses or go anywhere near a riding lawn mower. He made quite a point of the riding mower, so I've hired the lawn work out for a couple of years now.

I took 4 weeks off from the gym after the Pacemaker implant. Started back with very light weights for the first two weeks and did not do any overhead pulldowns for antoher 4 weeks.
I have a lead revision coming up, Dr told me with a bundle of HIS lead no gym for 6 weeks as that lead is more delicate.
Good luck.

I can only tell you what my doctor told me. I am otherwise healthy and the pacer fixes what is wrong with my heart. He sent me home with a 20# weight limit so 5# weights and the riding mower would have been ok from day 1. At 6 weeks, he said I could do anything I wanted except hold off on a full golf swing until 3 months. Ease back into it and see how you feel, however you aren't talking about anything crazy so you are probably fine.
The vibrations and bouncing from the riding mower may make you sore. It won't hurt the pacer, but you might want to ice after.
I do not have restrictions on upper body workouts. I do triple digits overhead, pull ups, push ups, use a rower. Not all doctors are ok with that, but I've been paced 25 years and have never had a problem. My doctor's priority is being fit so his answer is always if I feel up to it, go for it.
