Biventriclar Defibrillator since 2004, lifetime of heart issues, too many to list - my 5th generator replacement will be in two weeks in addition to a lead extraction and replacement- any recommendations for after care for myself, dos and don’ts or other suggestions or recommendations and what to expect. They will try laser extraction first but this lead has been in 13 years.

Lead Extraction
by doublehorn48 - 2019-08-20 21:02:59
I had lead extraction done 2 years ago. Mine had been in about 12 years and it was done with laser surgery. Treated it like any other replacement. Didn't raise my arm over my head and just let it heal. Went back to work 8 weeks later. I've had no problems.
Good luck,

extraction

13 years old isn't actually that old for extraction, unless you have an unusual amount of scar tissue. I asked my ep (head of ep at a large teaching hospital) and he said in the history of their enitre extraction team, they've only had two that couldn't be done with the laser. Good luck!
Ed Pearce, that's a spammer. I'll kill it and see what else is in there. Where there is one spam comment, there are usually more.

My ICD lead is 17 years old. But now has to be extracted because it's not conducting well and using up too much battery.
