Hello just got my PM installed yesterday. Dual chamber under the pectoral muscle. I read through the fourms and found some old posts but I have been doing BJJ for 12yrs + my kids both do it and I am hoping to continue training. Does anyone here train BJJ with a pacemaker? Any restrctions?
Thanks

Thanks for the note. I am cleared to start training again by my EP. I am going to wait another month though. I don't have an ICD just a dual chamber pacemaker.
I did a lot of research and reached out to the people at Vitalbeat (makers of pacemaker protection) and they shared several stories of people who are in the same boat as me and continue to train.
I will have to be careful in certain positions and probably won't be competing but looking forward to still be able to train.

That's good news, I was just givin the ok last week to slowly strat running again. Something I've been doing for 40 years and missed it. Eventually I will start adding other types of workouts, but for right now it sure feels good to be out on the road again. Good luck with your training, and be careful of the device that you have now

Bought the VitalBeat and very happy with it. Been back three weeks and far no issues.

How has your training been? Any complications? Drawbacks? Anything? I'm dying to get back on the mats but also terrified. I just had my PM put in beginning of March right before this covid mayhem. Any tips for continued training would be helpful. This is a great site everyone.
p.s. I know your probably not training right now due to the pandemic

Sorry 28bjjfl for the very late reply. Training has been good. It was a little touch and go with the pandemic and there was a 3 month stretch where pretty much the gyms in my area were all shut down. I continue to wear the Vital Beat and knock on wood everything has been going good. I generally do not notice much of difference although getting used to having a small pad on my upper chest is noticable during training. Sometimes I ask my sparring partners if the notice the pad and pretty much the answer is always no. Let me know if you have more questions.

Just read your question regarding martial arts training. I've had my PM for two months now, prior to this I was working out for years. One of the sports I love is boxing, unfortunately there are certain things those of us with icd,s should and shouldn't do. One of them is contact sports. Check with your doctor, but a sport where you could be slammed on the mat is something to avoid
