New to the group

I just had an ICD implanted on 5/30, and so far, so good. The pain was much less than I expected and the incision looks good, but I do have a lot of black and blue down my arm to my elbow. Normal?? I have been put on Amiodarone and that scares the hell out of me after reading the recent posts here and the possible side effects listed for the drug, it reminds me of the warnings on Draino. How dies one deal with seat belts riding over the device?

Some women take an old shoulder pad (or buy one from the fabric store) and sew it to the inside of their bra. That reduces the chafing from your bra strap and adds a bit of padding for the seatbelt.

I'm new to the group as well, so I just wanted to say welcome. The only advice I have is to skip the "side effects" section of the label unless you actually notice some side effects, and THEN go read them. Otherwise you will start to think you start noticing stuff and then drive yourself crazy :-) "self-induced side effects" or needless worry about what MIGHT happen or something. Sounds like you're doing well though! I hope someone else has some experience about that particular drug to share with you. Good luck with your bruising and I hope you heal soon!

amiodarone is a very potent drug. you should be very aware of it's side affects. my dr. told me if i ever had to go on it, i'd have to be hospitalized for a couple days while starting on it.
