had pacemaker fitted a week ago christmas eve have done3 walks of 1&1/2miles and felt slight tightning of chest when starting out but diminished on way back.Is this normal after the pacemaker operation,Martyn.

Martyn considering you have had a heart procedure, cut open, leads attached to your heart ,I think you have done extraordinarily well, Don't push yourself too hard, recovery is NOT a race, all the best for 2020 & your continued recovery.

You don't say why you have a PM, but shortness of breath is one symptom of most heart diseases, so you may still be feeling that. The fact that you feel better on the way home suggests that the PM is doing its business.
I gave up smoking at the same time as I had my PM implanted and have have noticed an ever increasing improvement in my breathing over the last 4 months. You're only in your first week post PM implantation and your body will be undergoing lots of changes, but as the weeks go by, I'm sure you'll be grateful for those changes.
