Recent Rapid Heart Rate

Hello everyone!

Well my diagnosed pericarditis has passed. I no longer feel how I did. 600mg ibuprofen did the trick. Anyhow I was at the EP office on Thursday and they changed some settings. One I recall was called CLS. Well ever since yesterday I've been having tachycardia episodes with minimal exercise and at rest. My heart rate spikes to about 140 and then it comes back down pretty quick. I have SSS caused by nocturnal bradycardia and nocturnal sinus arrest, never tachy. Do you guys think it's a setting? I'm also still short of breath at rest and exertion too. I felt this prior to PM so it's not new. They are giving me a CPEX test this week so hopefully that will shed some light on the issue. I've had every other test under the sun as well. ECG's, a CTA, an Echo, a Stress-Echo, Zio Patches, a Biotel 30 Day Heart Monitor and they can't tell me why I'm short of breath. I just have the Brady and arrest at night. My EJF is 65%, I have no calcium deposits, no stenosis, no plaque, no enlarged heart, valves work great on echo etc etc. I pass everything! I swear ever since mid October I was totally fine but ever since I received this diagnosis it's like I've fallen apart. I suffer from anxiety as well. Anyhow if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

CLS, tachycardia, and SOB

CLS is a Biotronic thing (Closed Loop Stimulation) that apparently helps with Bradycardia by stimulating the heart when it detects Bradycrdia or Sinus pauses. It's supposed to reduce syncope events. The idea, from what I can tell, is to detect the things that cause syncope and tickle the heart so it keeps beating normally.  It could easily be that this feature is too sensitive for you or it's set wrong. Call your EP.

As far as shortness of breath.  If you're not getting the answers from your cardiac team, perhaps it isn't heart related.  Maybe a good internist could point you the proper direction to get this fixed.  It certainly sounds heart related but who knows.  I have problems with "light headedness" (I know, impossily broad description) and had been complaining to my cardiologist and EP for over two years.  In October I had an episode that developed into a full down and out seizure.  The issue wasn't heart related (well, there still is that possibility, I guess) but my cardiac team wasn't prepared to deal with it.  They had no clue.

Sounds good!

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into the Internist. I still have a long way to go but I'll stay positive through it all. All the best!

Thanks for the well wishes! I will keep everyone updated. Doc thinks it might be the CLS setting. Oddly enough the heart rate spikes haven't happened much today. So of course this would happen the day before I head to the doctors office..... Anyhow wish me luck!
