I too am a fellow Ausie living up here in Gordonvale near Cairns I had my PM inserted on the 17th of April. I find the recovery is just as bad as having open heart suregery (which I had done by Victor Chang in 1983). But I am learning to "Take One Day at a Time"
Have a nice day Mary

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.

Hi Denise
I am also a fellow Aussie. I live in northern NSW near Byron Bay. I have had a PM only for about 4 years. I am a little older than you and am about to become a grandma for the first time in October.
I will be travelling to France in a month. I do not think it will be a problem for you travelling to the US. The only problem is getting permission for travel insurance. It cost me about $80 extra for a medical assessment but I was passed. I know I probably won't have any problems with the PM overseas but it is nice to be covered just in case. I lived in the US for over a year and my daughter was born there so she has dual citizenship. There are some really interesting parts of the US on the west coast. I have not been to the eastern side.
