you need to call your doctor if the nurse is not listening. throbbing could be a sign of infection. call now. do not wait. jessie

The throbbing could just be from the area healing or it could be that you are feeling your pacer kick in. It depends on a lot of factors. Did you have a pacer put in under the muscle or just under the skin? Why did you have your pacer put in? What kind of pacer to you have? Pacers are more likely to feel ventricular paces because they cause a strong heartbeat. You say it's not painful...so maybe it's just annoying! That could be a good thing. You are so aware of the area for months after surgery because it's something new that's in you. But definitely keep checking in with your doctor/nurse...that's what they're there for and what you pay them to do.

If you can give us more information...that may help!

Happy pacing,

Hi Leah,
I'm 21 and have had my pm for five weeks. The pain is somewhat normal and as everyone else has said call your doctor or just schedule an apt to see him/her instead. If you ever need somebody to talk to close to your age I am always here. I would love to here your story. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself and take it easy. Send me a private message anytime.

Hi Leah,
I've had a pm for 5 weeks now. For a while I had this twitch like thing going on the left side of my chest. it kept pace with my heartbeat and it didn't hurt but it was disconcerting. It finally stopped for the most part and now I rarely feel it. Be sure to see a doc and reaffirm that everything is ok. Take care, and stay close to this site, it's awesome

It just started?

Hi Leah,
Welcome! You're going to like this site.

Now for your question....Do you mean you have just started to notice this feeling? Are you moving your arm and shoulder more now than in the past 4 weeks?

Anyway, I would talk to your doctor, not just the nurse, if it continues. That is what the doctor is there for. (If only to reassure us).....Sometimes we have to insist.

Let us know how you are doing.

Best wishes,
Suze

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.
