Hi all,
I'm a runner and cyclist, about 10 days into the pacemaker adventure. So far, I'm pretty happy with it, that 33 bpm hr was getting kind of old. I've had a Road ID for about ten years, a handy wrist band with basic medical and contact info on it in case I should ever get hit by a car etc. I'm just wondering, what do any of you active people use for emergency id?
Thanks!
John

My pacemaker is not that obvious and I am on eliquis so I have a medical ID. Also has the hospital center that has my records.

I wear both a dog tag and bracelet with the important information (Eliquis, Pacemaker Depedent, etc.). It's been useful. When I had my seizure last IOctober, I was beginning to come around in the ambulance but still "paralyzed' I heard one paramedic tell the other that I had a medic alert that said that I had a pacemaker. They thougt it was important. I used to take them off when I was in the gym but since then I wear them unless I'm at home.
Drugs - esp anticoagulants - are probably the most important

I'm told that they train paramedics to look for a PM before applying defib paddles so that they don't place an electrode directly over it.
When I was on apixaban I carried both the anticoag warning card *and* a pack of treatment so that if I came off my bike they wouldn't wonder for too long why I was bleeding a lot.
Now that I'm off treatment I don't carry anything, other than a card with next-of-kin mobile details. And, luckily, although I'm 100% paced I'm not PM-dependent, with a decent junctional rhythm of about 38bpm.
So it's a very personal choice, as already mentioned.
road id

I have road id in a rainbow of colors, it just says my name, pacemaker, and how to access my online medical record. Do I remember to wear it? Not often! I forgot it for my race this morning. My phone has my emergency contact info and I'v never had anything happen in 25 years of being paced so I get kinda careless about medical alerts.
Thanks

Thanks everyone, I think I will just order another Road ID. A bit pricey, really great quality. Since I commute by bike, putting it on is part of getting dressed.
Cheers, time to get outside!

I'm not familiar with the "Road ID", but there are many threads here discussing medical ID jewelry. I wear one, which has basic info about my conditions, drugs, PM, etc., along with emergency contact info; but it's a personal choice.
