Alternative ICE Info

My med id bracelet has been on its last legs--kept catching on things.  Yesterday it caught me as I was changing my sheets and stuck me fast to my mattress.  Thought I was gonna have to amputate, lol! But bracelet is fubar'd - may get a new one.  BUT - my question is:

does anyone have their med & emergency info on their phone lock screen?  Would that be a good idea?  I'm mostly concerned about this in event I have a stroke and can't communicate.

med info on phone app

by islandgirl - 2020-03-30 12:41:40

Yes!  I have my health data on my iphone.  The app is accessible with a locked phone and physicians, police, EMS know to access the phone data.  It was accessed for my SCA and also for a severe allergic reaction.  The EMS and physicians were complimentary my data was available on my iphone.  I hand it to the nurses when I am questioned what meds I take.

medical info

Hello Violet,

I really must get round to doing something about carrying essential medical info around with me !!  I do presently have some of it stored on my iPhone but I still feel that an ID bracelet is the best way to go.  Afterall, someone could steal my iPhone if I collapsed while out as well as my wallets/purses with my health ID cards, whereas at least an ID bracelet would hopefully stay with me.  The only problem is that only limited info can be stored on the bracelet.  Maybe I need multiple bracelets.  Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

iPhone Emergency ID info.

This can be added using your Health App ( with the red heart on a white background).

Go to Medical ID at the bottom right and then add details. Make sure the Emergency Access is set to the green slider ( show when locked) , and the Emergency box will come up, at the lower right, when your number pad for your lock screen is shown.Pressing on this brings up the emergency phone pad and at the bottom right your Emergency ID * box. Tap on this and the details you added will be revealed.

Hope this helps those with iphones that wish to show their Medical ID to anyone using your phone.

Bracelet

I have the bracelet with engraving of my condition, allergies, NHI number and my hisbands number for emergency contact.

It would be the first place I'd look if someone were to collapse and I was there.

If you find a good way to put it on your phone do post it here!

I have a bracelet and dog tag (more information). When I had a seizure last October,  the EMTs went for the dog tag. They didn't even look for a phone.

bracelet with welded links

My first Medic Alert braclet caught on things as well. The upper end ones have welded links and are generally much more pleasant to wear. Mine is a small emblem, gold plated bracelet and generally stays out of my way. :)

And thank you for the tips on adding medical info to my iphone. done!

Check out the website Roadid.com. I have a medical id that attaches to my fitbit and also a dogtag with all pertinent data on it. They have many more options for you to explore.
